ountains which are spectacular on the outside, and surprising on their insides. In Garfagnana, water flows abundantly and creates natural caves like the Grotta del Vento (Windy Cave), a karstic area in the heart of the Apuan Alps known throughout Europe, and the Tana che Urla (Crying Hole) with its blue pools and a real river flowing through it. Both can be visited easily by tourists and both caves are in the municipality of Vergemoli. There are so many different options, Speleologists will be spoilt for choice: the Grotta delle Fate (Fairies Cave) and the Sentiero dei meno mille, a trek that passes in front of several caverns, perfect for visitors curious of stalagmites and stalactites, profound wells and limestone sculptures.
